Even though the day is not really a big deal in our house, I have nothing but fond memories of Valentines Day. I can still remember the feel of the large punch out or cut out Valentine books my mother would bring home for me in the 50s and 60s. I'd spend hours cutting or punching the cards, pasting together the envelopes, addressing them, and then bringing them into school to put into a large decorated box in my classroom until it was time for the special delivery.
I am an eternal romantic, so I looked around my house for couples who seem to share the feeling that romance is in the air. BTW, I don't mean to discriminate. I happen to believe that true love comes between all sorts of couples. It just turns out that my current collection just happens to be straight. Anyway, let's enjoy some love, from my house to yours!
Salt and Pepper "Huggers" go out to eat at their favorite diner.
This American Bisque planter couple is locked in an eternal embrace.
Peter Peter Pumpkin Eater and his sweetie in the pumpkin shell. Is that a good way to keep her from hitting those antique shops?
Mr. Tomato and Ms. Onion demonstrate that mixed marriages can work out.
Salte and Pepe, a bit dusty, but never rusty at romance.
Of course, romance transcends your age bracket.
Even Cool Penguins can be hot for each other.
This piece by artist William Acorsi proves that love means trust and also balance in a relationship.
Porcelain art by Laura Wilensky with body language that might mean this relationship is just begining....
Happy Valentine's Day! May you have your own heart's desire!
This is why I love YOU! : )
