A Writer's Wish List

We've all gotten them: rejection letters. Now, for every writer who has received a rejection letter, or the writer annoyed by celebrity children's books, my holiday gift to you: a song parody I'm calling "A Writer's Wish List." Ha! This is great! Here's a version I wrote and blogged last year:

Yours sounds so fancy. MUST. INVEST. IN. RECORDING. EQUIPMENT. IMMEDIATELY.

Happy Holidays!!!

Hey, good one! If you're on a mac, you already have a recording program called Garage Band. I bought a "snowball" microphone and just sang to a karaoke version of the song. But yesterday, I played with my NEW Christmas toy, (well, an old toy in new clothes), a midi keyboard that now -- thanks to a $30 adapter -- plays thru Garage Band. So much fun. Laying down tracks with SOOOO many bells and whistles... literally. Just lots of creative fun, even if it does make me wish I'd listened to my mother and practiced the piano a lot harder in my youth!

If you get that equipment and record it, send me the link!

Where Did We Come From?

  • A Shared Passion....
We are eight writers and illustrators who came together in 2000 as an on-line writing group. Over the years we have shared stories and news and frustrations about the wonderful and sometimes scary business we are in: writing and illustrating books for youth. We work in picture books, middle grade and YA novels, and non fiction. Some of us have also done magazine work. Over the past six years we have grown into more than a group of writers. We are now dear friends. Between us we have a few dozen projects out, or coming out soon. Check back to hear about our new books or ask questions! We look forward to hearing from you!
